Cuthbert is not a fan of sliding. Particularly not into the kitchen at speed. The KoolPets Paw Grip Socks were made for dogs who need a little more traction, a little more protection, or a little more dignity on smooth floors.

On a warm summer's day, pavement temperatures can reach 60°C or more. If you can't hold your hand on the surface for five seconds, it's too hot for your dog's paws. The KoolPets Paw Grip Socks create a barrier between your dog's pads and the heat underfoot, so summer walks stay comfortable rather than painful.

The thick rubberised grip sole keeps your dog stable on tiles, laminate and wooden floors, even if the sock shifts slightly during use. The leopard print pattern is entirely Cuthbert's idea and he stands by it.

An adjustable velcro strap holds each sock securely in place without buttons or clips that could irritate the skin. The soft, breathable knit fabric is comfortable against the paw and won't cause overheating during indoor use.

Beyond slip prevention and heat protection, the socks also shield paws from scratched surfaces or post-surgery wounds that need to be left alone. The no-button design means nothing to catch or press, and they're easy to wash and dry for daily use.

What are these socks actually for?

Two main things. First, grip on smooth indoor floors — tiles, laminate and wood. Second, paw protection outdoors, particularly on hot pavements in summer. Tarmac and paving can reach 60°C or more on a warm day, hot enough to burn a dog's pads within seconds. The thick rubber sole creates a barrier between your dog's paws and the heat underfoot.

What size should I get?

Measure your dog's paw width at its widest point, then check the size guide in the gallery. Available from XS to XL. If your dog is between sizes, go up. A slightly larger sock stays on better than one that's too tight.

How do they stay on?

Each sock has an adjustable velcro strap that wraps around the leg to hold it in place. No buttons or clips that could irritate the skin. Some dogs take a few minutes to adjust to wearing them, that's normal

How do I know if the pavement is too hot for my dog?

The five-second rule. Place the back of your hand flat on the pavement. If you can't hold it there for five seconds, it's too hot for your dog's paws. On a 25°C day, dark tarmac can reach 52°C. On a 35°C day, it can exceed 65°C. The socks won't make very hot pavements comfortable for long walks, but they provide meaningful protection for shorter trips out.
